Racing Santander 1-3 GetafeApril 24, 2006
Racing Santander remain just a point above the relegation zone following a defeat at home to a Getafe side that could still win a UEFA Cup berth if they finish the season strongly.

Antonito Perez had equalised for Racing after Ivan Riki gave the visitors the lead.

However, second-half goals from Riki and Mariano Pernia ensured victory for the team based on the outskirts of Madrid.

Getafe were quickly into their stride and after two minutes Cosmin Contra created a chance for Angel Vivar Dorado, whose header was saved by David Dudu Aouate.

Pablo Redondo then forged an opening for Alberto Aguilar but once more Aouate came to the rescue.

The opening goal arrived after 34 minutes and it was a well-deserved one for Getafe.

Riki collected the ball in the Racing penalty area and shrugged off the defenders to fire a powerful shot into the bottom left corner.

Getafe almost re-took the lead in first-half stoppage time but Vivar Dorado's header from a Riki cross was wide of the mark.

In the second half it was Racing who were first to threaten when Felipe Melo let fly with his right foot, only to see his shot blocked.

Getafe got their noses back in front in the 61st minute, Riki producing a moment of magic when - despite the close attentions of the Racing defence - he managed to find the far corner with his left foot with Aouate left rooted to the spot.

Now Getafe went out to kill the game and Aouate was forced to save from Contra's free-kick.

However, Racing came close to equalising again when Chilean substitute Mauricio Pinilla forced Luis Garcia into action to keep out his powerful strike.

Getafe wrapped up the win with their third goal after 73 minutes when they were awarded a free-kick and Pernia smashed home the clincher.

They could even have scored a fourth goal through substitute Daniel Guiza who produced a solo run and a shot only for Aouate to make the save.
