Lenovo Thinkpad T400 Review and SpecsJanuary 5, 2009
Lenovo Thinkpad has released lots of new versions, the specification is the most important thing, which is concerned by users mostly, so what is the specs of Lenovo Thinkpad T400, I will have a review on it here.

• Operating System: Windows Vista Business
• Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T9400
• Processor Speed:2.53 GHz
• RAM: 2GB –> 8 BG
• Weight:5.6 lbs.
• Display Size: 14.1″
• Graphics: Switchable Intel GMA 4500MHD and/or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
• Storage Capacity: 160 GB
• Networking Options:802.11 a/b/g/n
• Primary Optical Drive:DVD +/- RW
The Lenovo Thinkpad is one of those laptops that really bridges the spectrum when it comes to cost and specs. The Thinkpad T400 is right in the middle of it all with a modest internal setup that’s great for business or heavier home computing, which should be expected for around $1,400 to $1,600.
Right off the bat, the T400 offers one huge perk in switchable graphics, which means this machine can speed up your day to day computing and save battery life on the go with it’s lower power Intel GMA graphics set. But you won’t sacrifice higehr end video and graphics with the ATI Mobility Radeon setup wunning in sync with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 2.53 GHz. Not too shabby.
But, of course, all this bulky internal work brings up the weight. And, Lenovo hasn;t really caught on to the design trend. So, if you don’t mind a heavier, less attractive laptop for work, the T400 is perfect. But, for more specilaized home laptoping and for those with a design flair, keep looking, as there isn;t anything here you can;t find elsewhere.
Now, how about the specs of the Lenovo Thinkpad T400, I think you do have a conclusion in your mind, if it is worth to buy, each have their own idea.

Who is the No. 1? Asus or Acer...January 3, 2009

Nowadays, lots of brands of laptops are in furious competitions, like Toshiba, Sony, HP, Compaq, IBM, Dell and others. However, who is the NO.1, we still do not have an answer, let’s discuss between Asus and Acer, these two brands now, and find the best one here.
Asus created the Netbook category a little over a year ago when it introduced its first Eee PC. Acer jumped in this past summer with the Aspire One and has overtaken Asus for the top spot in the Netbook market. According to research firm DisplaySearch, Acer sold 2.15 million Netbooks in Q3 for a 38.3 percent share of the Netbook market. Asus moved 1.7 million units for 30.3 percent market share. Not only did Asus have a head start in this horse race, but it also has a much larger stable of Netbooks. It seemingly releases a new Eee PC model every other week, while Acer has but a few versions and colors of its 8.9-inch Aspire One.

HP sits in a distant third with a 5.8 percent share of the market, followed by MSI (5.7 percent), and Dell (2.8 percent).

On the whole, the Netbook category grew 160 percent in Q3, which is good news, given the current state of the global economy, but not all that surprising when you consider that the category has gained momentum with many of the big names jumping into the fray.
Now, the answer is obvious, who is the NO.1, there is no need to point out. But both of them are quickly developed, what is their future levels, we still have no result.

The Battle Between Laptop and Notebook December 22, 2008

When it comes to choosing a cheap laptop or notebook, there is one thing to be certain of, there is so much debate between everyone whether a laptop and notebook are the same or completely different. On one side of the debate, you have many experts agreeing that the two are completely different. Going by the concept that a laptop is a portable computer while, a notebook is for taking notes, they will argue the point until your eyes cross, pointing out all sorts of things like a notebook is defined by many different companies as having different options from the type of processor, to the RAM, and even the optical drives. When you look at this concept, a notebook would be a veritable note taking machine which has no problems what so ever running word processing capabilities, internet access and can even come with an optical drive for means of storing data.
On the other side of the table you have the laptop, which of course has more processing capabilities as well as RAM and have no problems running multimedia programs as well as high-end development software like CAD or even Dreamweaver and Photoshop. However the concept them becomes even more confusing when you start to realize that some computer companies use the terms loosely and call all of their portable computers one or the other. Some even separate them based on their capabilities and as a result a long standing debate has developed between experts in the field as to whether they are the same exact thing or completely different.
According to the first set of experts, if you are looking for a cheap laptop notebook, you go with the notebook because it has less features which makes it cheaper. On the other hand since many companies call them either one or the other, this will make the decision process that much harder. Instead of thinking whether you want a cheap notebook or laptop, you should instead think about the features you need in the particular mobile computer and just look for one that is affordable and has all the features you need.
Do not allow yourself to get dragged into this debate, it is not worth all of the effort, just think of it as a mobile PC and nothing more. Otherwise you could spend many days looking for a cheap notebook or laptop when in fact you need the other one. Save yourself some hassles and sit down to think about what it is exactly you plan on using the laptop for and go from there. Once this part is out of the way, finding a cheap notebook/laptop will be a much easier task because you know what you need and can then compare prices looking for the cheapest, without having to give up any features.

why is my computer so slow, let's speed it up!December 12, 2008

We use computer a lot, and sometime we have emergency things to resolve, but our computers do not coorperate, so we are usually wondering "why is my computer so slow"?

Looking to speed up laptop computers overall performance? Well you have come to the right place. All computers and especially laptops slow down when they get a little wear and tear on them. Unfortunately instead of adjusting a few things, people believe they need to buy a new computer in order to increase laptop speed. This just isn't true. You can actually speed up your laptop with these three quick steps. I will also recommend a program that can perform all three automatically for you. Speeding up your laptop was never this easy!

The first step is to run a disk defrag on your system. What a disk defragmenter does is increase the speed in which you can access information. Whenever your computer processes information it needs to jump from place to place and this takes time. Defragging your system allows your computer to stream information through one path. This will speed up laptop computers ability to access and run different programs.

The second step is to eliminate as many unnecessary startup programs as possible. Anytime you install a new program it will try to automatically start itself every time you power your computer on. This will dramatically slow down the speed your computer can start up or shutdown. These programs also eat up valuable RAM which causes the computer to be very sluggish. Eliminate all but the necessary programs and feel the incredible difference in your laptop processor speed.

The third step is to clean up registry congestion. This is without question the most important step you can take to speed up your laptop. As we download new or remove old programs our registries get congested with useless and redundant files. This clogs everything up and leaves you asking why is my computer slow? Getting rid of those unnecessary files will not only speed up your computer but prevent it from crashing in the future.

These are three steps you can do right now to get your computer running like it did out of the box. If you are a computer novice and want a program to do the work for you I highly recommend visiting the link below. Instead of spending hundreds on new upgrades or thousands on a new laptop, why not just optimize your computer to reach it's peak performance for a fraction of the cost? Give it a try.

Do I Really Need the Best Laptop?November 25, 2008

Depending what your need is for the laptop will determine if you really need the best of the best or one that will cover your requirements. If your just a casual surfer of the net, college student or you need a good laptop for your business, each type of person will desire something different.

The person who goes on the internet just to check their e-mails or to chat with their friends will only require a basic computer with minimal amount of RAM as well as programs. They wouldn't need to get all the up grades or even fill their laptop with major amount of gigs.

A college student, depending on what type of classes he or she are taking, must decide if they would want to get graphic programs or not. A big issue with students is that they want the laptop to be conveniently mobile. Some laptops are bulky and have some weight. The best college laptop is the one that works for that particular person.

As for the business man or women, their needs will also vary. First of all they need one that will not fail them. They will require a dependable laptop that can be mobile as well. Since a businessperson travels quite a bit he will need to make sure that he or she gets a long life battery and a back up one as well. The programs that they'll need will also depend on what field of work they are in. In advertising one would need a laptop that has a few different graphic programs, while someone in banking would need spreadsheets and financial programs.

Whatever the need there's a laptop out there for you. Making a list of exactly what you'll be doing with it and using it for will help you in your decision.

For home users, which is the best laptop?November 19, 2008

We usually use laptops at office for works, but sometimes we do need laptops at home for entertainment or leisure, you will generally need a multi-purpose machine. That is, it should be capable of word processing, emailing, DVD burning and gaming. The problem, as always, is choosing the correct laptop to fit your needs. This article will show you which are the best laptops for the average home user.
Overview
The home user generally needs a laptop that performs a variety of functions. These range from word processing, Internet surfing, video editing and gaming. A laptop with over-the-top specifications would not be needed - just a simple one would probably be ok. We now look at 5 of these laptops I'd recommend.
1. The Fujitsu Lifebook A6120
Fujitsu has always made premium (and slightly pricey) laptops. However, the laptops are stellar performers and usually beat performance scores of other laptops. The Fujitsu Lifebook A6120 is one of the latest offerings from Fujitsu and comes highly recommended for the multi-purpose home user.
2. The HP Pavilion dv6500t
Amazing laptop that is selling like hotcakes out there. The HP Pavilion dv6500t is one of the best value laptops you can get (at last check, its street price was only about $850). However, it packs in great multimedia and gaming features. Definitely a contender for the home laptop category.
3. The Gateway T-6828
One of the latest laptops to come from Gateway, the Gateway T-C90 is a good machine for the average home user. You can expect to perform most of your basic computing tasks using this laptop. Gateway is not as well-known for its laptops (compared to laptops), but this model is one of the better models to be launched. Highly recommended.
4. The Dell Vostro 1310
As you might know, Dell is one of the most popular manufacturers of laptops. The Dell Vostro 1310 lives up to the Dell name by delivering great performance at a very decent price. You should definitely check it out (in fact, order it online since Dell has good online deals for its laptops).
5. The Toshiba Satellite U405-S2830
The Toshiba Satellite U405-S2830 is a good choice for the home user as well. It costs slightly more than the Gateway T-6828, but its feature set and performance specifications certainly justify the premium in price.
Conclusion
You should now know which are 5 of the best laptops for the home user. Your opinions may vary, but for myself, I'd go with the HP Pavilion dv6500t as my first choice of laptop for the average home user. Until next time, happy shopping!

Something about Laptop Batteries you should knowNovember 11, 2008

Lots of people use laptop now, and they usually need to take their laptops out for work, at that time, the laptop battery becomes very important, if it does not work or works very short time, your work will be affected and even stocked. Actually if you use your notebook on the move a lot, you will notice that as time goes by, you will run out of power faster than usual. Laptop batteries are usually the first casualties of a computer’s old age. Here’s how to prolong their life expectancy and how/where to purchase a new one.
One tip of preserving laptop batteries is to disconnect them from your unit if you won’t be using it for a long time. Of course by the time you switch it back on, some of the settings will have to be updated to reflect the current time.
Another of the habits that should be acquired is to let the battery run out juice from time to time. According to people who know far more than I do, apparently laptop batteries have a memory and the more they are recharged when not completely dry, the more they figure that the charging point is when it has run out of power.
My advice to those who fly or travel a lot is to carry at least two laptop batteries on them each time. I would even venture to add that the more you lug around, the better as sometimes you simply don’t find the time to recharge them.
Oh yes, before I forget… when you recharge your laptop batteries or any batter for that matter make sure that they are charged completely according to the manufacturer’s provided guidelines.
What you do with your computer while running on battery power will greatly influence how long it lasts. The more processing power computer use, the faster laptop batteries run out of juice. So, you might want to limit DVD watching or do subtle things such as closing unnecessary applications, reduce the screen’s brightness and basically focus on the single task that you turned your computer on for, in the first place.
Watch out though! Make sure that you get the right battery for your laptop. Check your user guide for exact specifications. You don’t want to receive it and sadly realize that you’ve wasted your money or worse, you don’t want the thing exploding in your face. I don’t mean to scare you but lately it seems that laptop batteries are being recalled in massive numbers because they have been causing fires!
Should you purchase your replacement battery straight from the manufacturer? Yes as it’s the safest bet but it will usually be more expensive for you as they don’t practice price matching.
If you want to buy replacement batteries, no hesitate to click the links below, we also supply laptop ac adapters, laptop keyboards:

What Laptop fits Your KidsNovember 4, 2008

Laptops are more and more popular now, even lots of kids are being using it now. As a father or mother, do you want to buy a laptop for your kids? Well, the truth is, It can be difficult to choose the correct model. There is a huge variety of laptops out there and any one of them could be the one for your kids. To help you decide, this article runs through some of the basic thoughts and factors to consider before buying a kid's laptop. So read on and find out more ...

1. As A Home Computer
If you intent to buy the laptop as a home computer to be used by the kids and your spouse, you'd best go for a desktop replacement model. These models have widescreens and very decent processing power to allow you to use the laptop as though it were a desktop.

2. For Schoolwork
If your child needs a laptop for schoolwork at the high school level, it is then a good idea to get them a budget range laptop. Usually, they would not need to access the laptop very frequently - hence all you need is a simple, budget laptop like those from Dell.

For college going students, they have a greater need for a better laptop. At the college level, you'd expect your kid to lug the laptop from class to class and also do presentations. Hence, a higher end, ultraportable model would be better suited for them.

3. For Multimedia
Some kids love to dabble with digital video. Some of them even post videos of their travels on YouTube or cut a DVD. If your child is such a multimedia enthusiast, then getting him or her a good laptop with Firewire support becomes quite important.

4. For Gaming
Believe it or not, some kids want a laptop so they can play games. Now, in the first place, as a parent, I'd never agree to this. Particularly if they can play games on the desktop machine. However, if for one reason or another you need to buy a gaming laptop, go for those from Dell or Alienware - they sell very nice gaming laptops.

5. So Why Does Your Kid Need A Laptop?
The very first question to ask yourself is why your kid needs a laptop. Is he or she a college student and about to enter college? Then a good student laptop that is portable would be ideal. Is he or she just a high school student who needs to use a laptop for class projects or research? Or perhaps if your child is a pre-schooler, does he or she even need a laptop? Would a desktop suffice?

Think through these questions to understand why a new laptop is needed. Then you will be able to buy just the right one for your kid. We'll now look at some reasons why your children might need a laptop, then consider the appropriate types of laptops to buy.

Conclusion
I hope this article has shown you how to buy a laptop for your kids. Regardless of the signs that could signal your laptop is going into critical, degradation mode. Watch out for these signs and try to prevent them where possible - it could save your laptop before it really crashes on you. Until next time, happy computing!

These Laptop Accessories are Must-Have November 1, 2008

In our new days, lots of people have to go abroad for work, they are highly mobile and want a pleasant computer experience, there are a few laptop accessories that should accompany them and their notebook. Below, I will list some that I deem essential or really useful and helpful.

Laptop Protection
These laptop accessories will prevent your computer from physical damage, theft or data loss. It’s a tough world out there and you never know what can happen within seconds. For instance a lock will prevent anyone from snatching your laptop when going to get a coffee refill while a laptop sleeve will protect your notebook in your bag from scratches, bumps and so on.
You might also want to invest in a flash or external portable drive to instantly back-up your most valuable data as you never know what might happen if you accidentally push the table your notebook is sitting on and it falls and breaks into thousands of pieces.

Privacy Filter
Don’t you hate when you’re sitting in a cafe, plane or any other public space and you can’t help notice the people who in all shamelessness stare at what you are doing or watching on your notebook?
Enters the laptop privacy filter, which as screen that prevents people from seeing what’s going on in your laptop unless they’re sitting in front of it. That means that only you can view your computer. I actually discovered it when I glanced at a guy’s computer in a cafe and could not see anything and when I asked him about it, he explained to me what it was and how it worked.

Headphones.
I have said it over and over, internal laptop speakers suck. Try to listen or watch a movie in a public space and two things will happen. One, you will annoy people next to you and two, you won’t be able to hear anything as the sound quality will be so poor.
Getting a good set of headphones will make the whole experience better and you will find that the added bonus of including them in your laptop accessories is the fact that by putting them on, you will isolate yourself from outside noise allowing you to better focus on your work.

Wi-Fi/ Hotspot finder
Normally to locate wireless Internet, you must have your computer. These cool laptop accessories allow you to figure out what networks are available to you and which ones are public!
Now, in some states and countries it’s legally to access private wireless networks even if they are open but sometimes, some businesses offer wireless Internet as way to attract clients.
Gone are the days when you had to drive or walk around the city with your computer on trying to find a good signal!

How to Maintain Your Laptop AC Adapter? October 22, 2008

We could find lots of knowledge about how to maintain your laptop battery, but not so much about ac adapter.
However, laptop AC adapter, like the batteries, is an essential element of your machine and is also the cause of a great number of breakdowns. Indeed, one of the elements most fragile of your laptop is the AC connector, i.e. the connector female in which comes to plug in the plug of your AC adapter.
An adapter in bad condition (stripped cable, broken case repaired with tape...) is often the cause of a fatal electric problem to the motherboard of your laptop. To avoid that you just have to purchase a new AC adapter (genuine), it is always less expensive than a repair or a swapping of the motherboard.
The repetition of these plug in and sometimes their useless violence ends regularly up tearing off the female connector of the motherboard.
That often occurs by stage, initially light poor contact, then as you move the cable in all the directions to find the current, the connector is torn off definitively, or the produced sparks roast the motherboard.
To try to save some dollars (whereas often the genuine adapters are not much more expensive) or simply because their retailer does not propose a genuine adapter, much buy "compatible" adapters.
Let me be frank, for repairers these ac adapters are a blessing! Their male connector, relatively adapted to the socket of the laptop, tears off more often than others the females connectors.
Their voltage and their amperage more or less close to the needs for your laptops and a sometimes irregular flow, even straightforwardly random, and their annoying tendency "to kill the fuses" by at the same time roasting your motherboard and other power cards, are an important source of occupation for the technicians.
The failure rate, properly incredible, due, in an unquestionable or probable way, with these adapters makes that I dis-advise them formally. I am the first to propose to use compatible parts when they are less expensive and as powerful as the original parts. But for the AC adapters I advise prudence.

Papatek.com supplies several brands of laptop ac adapters like Dell, Compaq, IBM, etc.

If I overcharge my laptop battery, the life span will not decrease!October 21, 2008

Lots of laptop users will meet this problem, when their batteries have been charged, they forget to pull them out. It seems that their batteries have been overcharged for a long time, there will be a doubt in their heart, if I overcharged my laptop battery, will the lif span decrease?
First it’s important to understand what overcharging is:
Over-charging occurs when the charger keeps the battery at a temperature that is warm to touch (body temperature) while in ready condition.
Li-Ion laptop batteries have built-in controller chips which prevent it from overcharging, as they can explode if overcharged. Overcharging does not affect the life span other than potentially destroying the battery.
A lithium-based battery should never be allowed to get warm in a charger. If you have this happen, the battery is no good or the charger is not working properly. Don’t continue to use the battery or charger if this happens.
A Lithium-ion battery may be damaged by extensive overcharging (continuously on a charger for more than 24 hours). Damage to the battery from overcharging would only occur in the very unlikely event of a malfunction of the charging system.

Attention! Remove the laptop battery For A Desktop Replacement Laptop October 15, 2008

A user asked this question: I have a laptop at home which I use as a desktop replacement. As such, 99% of the time the laptop is being used it is plugged in. I wonder if I should remove the battery so that it is not permanently being charged, or does the laptop cut off the current to the battery once it is fully charged? I do unplug the laptop when I turn it off.
The experts point out that when using a laptop as a desktop replacement the battery should not be left in for long periods of time. The laptop will over time discharge the battery. Remove the battery – making sure that it is charged to 40% and store it in a dry, warm place. Ensure that it is wrapped protectively and nothing will be dropped on it.
The battery should be re-installed every 3-4 weeks and allowed to fully discharge. Leaving a battery in storage for longer than this without using could cause the battery to fully discharge as the circuitry of the battery itself consumes power.
Leaving a battery in a laptop while using an electrical outlet for long periods of time will keep the battery in a constant state of charging up and that will reduce the life cycle of the battery.
Remember that when you have removed the battery from a laptop while using with an electrical outlet – the automatic battery backup is no longer functional. Make sure to plug your laptop into an uninterrupted power source (UPS) not directly into an outlet or surge protector.
