I had a call from Michael at ten PM. He was already in Grants Pass and said he was depressed. He said that Kate agreed that I could pick up Mikey in two weeks and go to GP and pay him a visit. He said that Mikey was crying and took it pretty hard. Poor Kid. Just when he thought things were going his way. I need to check with Wes to see if they would hire Michael if he were to show up. If not then I need to set something else up. I have to figure out whether he wants to move into the house - in with me or what the heck he thinks would be a good deal. I think we could live together in the trailer but he might want his own place. I hope he find a job today and signs up for diversion so he can be driving himself around. I need to forward the new money to him. It looks like work may be fairly busy with some new containers coming this way.
I got a call from Michael at seven fifteen. He sounded a little better. He said he was checking with his PO today and looking for a job. I told him to get on that diversion shit right away so he could get his license. He said he would be looking into moving in with the cousin's spare room. I gave him the number of the transfusion. I told him I intended to talk to Kate daily just to give her a boost and to make sure all was okay with Mikey. He seemed all right with that. I made sure he knew I was not much concerned about their relationship - they would just have to handle that themselves. I need to be careful about carrying tales back and forth also.
A call at ten thirty Michael had talked to his PO and they had not even talked to Multanomah County but he was going to put it in again and said he would make sure it sticks. He said that he was going to use the money for gas to head back to Portland and he should be there in five hours or so. He called the gas station and they were good to go if he came in Friday. I will have to see how his schedule is to decide whether I go down there this weekend. This drama changes as often as the wind changes direction. I am glad for Mikey's sake that it was not that permanent.
At five oclock I called Michael and he had gotten some clothes and was going to start work tomorrow at ten untl two. He said that Mikey was surprised and thrilled that he had returned. It was all just too good to be true - but I kept a positive attitude. At seven thirty he called and said Kate had kicked him out of the house again and that he was going to stay with the car driver - would let him put the car in the driveway and he would sleep in the backseat tonight. It seems to be one crisis - one right after another. His description of the deal makes it look like she has a split personality and would be most hard to live with. So it is probably not an option any longer. So the only thing I can think of is to go down there after work and stay at Motel 6 and look around that neighborhood for a studio apartment or something nearby that woiuld give him access to Mikey and yet not be across town. I guess about the only thing we can do is try. He seems reluctant to take any more from me. Once he has a job and feels better about himself maybe we can work something out. The more I hear the more I think that Kate is bad news but you cannot walk off and leave Mikey to that weird person. |
