My daily thoughts and activities - to more or less help bring my thoughts together and maybe think things through better. It should be interesting to look at later.

It was a pretty good day again. The temperature was up around 60. I took out the newspapers and swung by Old Country for another stuffing. Way too uncomfortable. I need to lay off all food for a day and then start in gradually again. I got some multi-grain cereal and some more quinoa. On the way back I went to WalMart and got the week’s groceries. I left a message on Katie voice mail at lunch and then later on I called – no answer- and finally texted her a message.

Around six oclock Mikey called and said that he was back in Portland and had been for nearly half an hour. He said he was fine and sounded okay. He said Eugene was okay. He asked me if I could guess what he was doing. I told him that I had no idea. He said he was drawing a picture. I said it sounds like you have some of your dad’s talent doesn’t it. He says yeah. I asked him what was in the picture and he said that it was a picture of a knight fighting and slaying a dragon. I was immediately struck that this is exactly what he is living through and pretty much what his life is all about – really no surprise since I had seen a couple of his other drawings.  However there should have been two dragons instead of one. I told him to be sure and save it because I wanted to look it over when I saw him this coming weekend. I told him that I planned to come down on Friday evening and he seemed to think that was a good idea. I told him I would contact Katie to make sure she understood. He said he was riding in a car as we spoke so I am assuming that they were taking the car back if they rented one. Who knows? I tried to pump him up on being a good kid and that I were really proud that he was my grandson. I could not have been prouder of anyone. I told him to check the mail tomorrow because he might be getting a card. There was a little more this and that and then I told him I would call him tomorrow.
