Tiffany Renee Darwish (born October 2 , 1971 ), known popularly as Tiffany , is an American singer who had a number of teen pop hits during the late 1980s.

Biography

Tiffany(Tiffany Jewellery, Tiffany Jewelry) was born in Norwalk , California , to parents James Robert Darwish (of Lebanese descent) and Janie Wilson (of mostly Irish and some distant Cherokee descent). [1] Her parents divorced when she was very young.

Around 1975, when Tiffany was four years old, she learned the words to the song " Delta Dawn ", and she started singing it often.

Early singing career

In 1981, Tiffany(Tiffany Bracelets, Tiffany 1837) made her first professional singing show, with country music singer Jack Reeves at a country and western spot called Narods in Chino, California . She passed a hat along the crowd afterward, and collected US$235 in what would be her first career earnings.

Tiffany was singing at a Los Angeles club named El Palomino when she was discovered by Hoyt Axton and his mother Mae Axton. Mae took her to sing in Nashville, Tennessee , where she performed at the Ralph Emery Show , singing Juice Newton 's " Queen of Hearts " and Tammy Wynette 's "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad".

In 1982, Tiffany(Tiffany Bracelet) toured several cities in Alaska , earning US$3000 for the tour [ citation needed ] . Also that year, she performed on the same bill as Jerry Lee Lewis and George Jones . At that time she was managed by George Tobin. In 1983, Ronald Kent Surut became her manager.

Recording contract and fame

Finally, in 1984, she was signed to a recording contract by George Tobin , who heard a demo tape she recorded and liked it.

In 1985, Tiffany appeared on Star Search with Ed McMahon , but she came in second place that year.

In 1986, Tiffany signed a contract that gave Tobin total control over her career. Then, she went into the studio to record her first album, and a contract was signed with MCA . Tiffany's eponymous album, Tiffany 1837, was released in 1987, and she promoted it by touring shopping malls across America (the originality of this approach at that time earned substantial coverage on its own. The tour kicked off at the Bergen Mall in Paramus , New Jersey [2] and a decade later would inspire Britney Spears ' similar Hair Zone Mall Tour ). Her cover of the Tommy James & the Shondells hit, " I Think We're Alone Now ", became a number one smash hit on the Billboard chart, propelling Tiffany to international stardom. "Weird Al" Yankovic parodied the song as " I Think I'm a Clone Now " on his album " Even Worse ".

Soon, she was vying with fellow pop star Debbie Gibson for space on the covers of teen magazines, including Tiger Beat , Teen Beat , as well as on television shows on MTV , Fox , etc. Her ballad "Could've Been" also shot to the #1 spot of the Billboard charts in February 1988. Her modified cover of " I Saw Him Standing There " and "Feelings of Forever" also saw chart success from the over 4.1 million selling debut. [3] Tiffany(Tiffany Bracelet, Tiffany Bracelets) also set a record for the youngest female artist to top the Billboard charts with a debut album. Later that year, she cast the then-unknown singing group New Kids on the Block as the opening act for her concert tour. During the tour she briefly dated Jonathan Knight , a relationship that was short lived because of touring difficulties.

September 9, 2008 - A CCNA Certification is Just the Beginning

A question I consistently get from my CCNA students when I teach a Cisco networking associate certification class is: What will I be expected to do in a new position working with computer networks.

Completion of the CCNA exam gives you a credential, but it doesn’t give you experience. While you do get lots of book learning and some hands-on troubleshooting as you prepare for an exam, you will have a much better idea of what to expect to face in a new network administrator position if you have had some real-world experience.

In fact, I tell my students that they should try to get as much hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches as possible before considering a job in networking, and it really does help in preparing for the exam.

Students expecting to break into the networking gig once they pass their CCNA should also be prepared to encounter challenges in security, a fundamental area of networking. Additionally, network administrators are more likely now to address issues in two newer technology areas: wireless and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Knowledge in these three areas is critical if you want to stand out among other job applicants and hit the ground running in a new job.

On the wireless front, understanding the 640-802.11 specification is key–the differences between 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 640-802.11n protocols. While there’s a chapter dedicated to wireless in the CCNA prep books, getting a solid understanding of these technologies will help you in any networking job, especially since wireless and networking go hand in hand at many companies.

VoIP is another technology area that you should understand pretty well for a new networking job. Phone systems aren’t what they used to be. Now phones are part of the network and integrate with data as a critical part of any business. Understanding VoIP before you get there will make a new networking job that much easier. Understanding Cisco’s VoIP and unified communications offerings will definitely give you an advantage.

Security is more critical than ever! The more you know, the better. Preparing for the CCNA, you will learn the basics of password and general security processes; on the job, you’ll be expected to understand security at a significantly deeper level—particularly if the organization you join has regulatory compliance requirements or is a target for hacking, for example. The U.S. government, for instance, has to deal with over 3 million hacker attacks per day. While you may not work for an organization that has to deal with this kind of onslaught, you will likely still be expected to take the necessary measures to secure the company’s network and data assets. The CCIE Routing and Switching written exam, as of the time of publication, consists of a two-hour exam administered at a proctored exam facility affiliated with Pearson VUE (http://www.vue.com/cisco). The exam typically includes approximately 100 multiple-choice questions. No simulation questions are currently part of the written exam.

As with most exams, everyone wants to know what is on the 350-001 exam. Cisco provides general guidance as to topics on the exam in the CCIE Routing and Switching written exam blueprint, the most recent copy of which can be accessed from http://www.cisco.com/go/ccie.

Cisco changes both the CCIE written and lab blueprints over time, but Cisco seldom, if ever, changes the exam numbers. (Cisco changes the exam numbers of the associate- and professional-level certifications when it makes major changes to what is covered on those exams.) CCIE Routing and Switching Written Exam 350-001

The written exam is a two-hour, multiple choice test with 100 questions covering Routing and Switching networking theory related to topics such as IP, IP routing, non-IP desktop protocols, bridging and switch-related technologies, and includes some equipment commands. The 350-001 exam is closed book and no outside reference materials are allowed.

Study Tips

1. Print out a copy of the exam blueprint from the Cisco website. Use this as the basis of your notes, and don't consider yourself ready for the exam until you are completely comfortable with ALL the topics on the list. The blueprint changes occasionally, but the current version can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/rs/wr_exam_blueprint_v3.html
2. Buy a few books. This seems simple enough, but I've found there are two types of books lists for the CCIE - those for the lab and those for the written. They're not the same.
